TORONTO (Ticker) -- It took until their final at-bat, but the Toronto Blue Jays finally found a way to beat the Chicago White Sox at SkyDome.

Reserve infielder Craig Grebeck slapped a single up the middle to score Darrin Fletcher with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Blue Jays edged the White Sox, 4-3, to salvage the finale of the four-game series.

"To stay sharp, you work every day like you're playing every day," Grebeck said. "It's easy to get down when you're not playing. It's easy to say, 'I haven't played in awhile, why should I work.' "

Peter Munro pitched brilliantly in his first start of the season for the Blue Jays and was one out away from a victory, but closer Billy Koch (3-0)surrendered a single to Jeff Abbott and a game-tying two-run homer to Herbert Perry.

"I made a bad pitch and Perry did what he was supposed to do with it," said Koch, who recorded the victory despite giving up his first homer of the season. "I was fortunate enough that it was just a tie game. The guys did a geat job getting to second and third in the bottom of the ninth and then Graybie (came through) with a huge hit."

The Blue Jays pushed across the winning run in the bottom half against Bobby Howry (0-1) to snap a seven-game home losing streak against the White Sox and end an overall four-game slide.

"You hate to lose the last game of the series when you have a chance to sweep, but we took three of four games from a very good team," Perry said.

With one out, Fletcher walked and went to third on Shannon Stewart's ground-rule double that bounced into the left-field seats. Grebeck fouled off four straight 3-2 pitches before slapping a single off the glove of shortstop Jose Valentin, who was playing in.

"It's a big victory to show we could come back," Grebeck said. The Blue Jays were desperate for a win, considering they face Boston's Pedro Martinez at Fenway Park on Tuesday.
